Deepi Sharma and Poonam Raut created a new history

India's Deepti Sharma scored second largest individual score of women's ODI cricket.

India’s Deepti Sharma made the second biggest individual score of ODIs and registered her name in the pages of history. 19-year-old Dipti made an impressive 188 runs against Ireland in the quadrangular series in South Africa. It is highest individual ODI score of any Indian female player. At the same time, it is the second-highest ODI innings ever played in women’s cricket.

Dipti and his opening partner Poonam Raut added 320 runs for the first wicket. It is the record partnership for the first wicket in International Cricket . This was the first occasion in women’s cricket when a pair crossed the 300 mark.

The record of the biggest partnership for the first wicket in the men’s one-day cricket is created by Upul Tharanga and Sanath Jayasuriya. The Sri Lankan duo shared 286 runs against England in 2006.

Dipti missed a double century by 12 runs. Deepti played an impressive innings of 188 runs with 27 fours and 2 sixes. This is the first time when an Indian woman batsman has managed to cross the 150-run mark. Before that Poonam scored 109 runs with 11 fours before retiring. Team India scored 358 runs in 50 overs losing only 3 wickets. This  is the highest score in ODIs for team India. The Indian team has crossed the 300-run mark for the first time.
