Team India squad for tri-series in Sri Lanka

The first match of the tournament will be played between India and host Sri Lanka on March 6

The Indian team squad has been announced for the Tri Series to be played under the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka. Many senior players, including Virat Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, have been rested, so many youngsters have been given the place in the team. Rohit Sharma will captain this series, while Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed vice-captain.

Chief selector MSK Prasad said that while selecting the team, we have chosen the team keeping in mind much cricket and the upcoming program. He said that Team Management suggested that fast bowlers should be given adequate rest to improve performance, to provide more comfort and to prevent injuries. So that the board has rested the regular players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and Jaspreet Bumrah while young players like Rishabh Pant, Deepak Hooda, Mohammad Siraj and Vijay Shankar are included in the team for the Tri Series.

The team is as follows:

Rohit Sharma (captain), Shikhar Dhawan (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik (wicketkeeper), Deepak Hooda, Washington Sunder, Yuzvendra Chahal, Akshar Patel, Vijay Shankar, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammad Siraj, Rishabh Pant.

The first match of the tournament will be played between India and host Sri Lanka on March 6, while the final match will be played on March 18. MSK Prasad said that Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not available for selection. He himself requested to be rested.
