Lasith Malinga made a new record for himself by taking a hat-trick against New Zealand on Friday. Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga has surpassed Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram in terms of maximum hat-trick. Akram took four hat-trick wickets in international cricket.
Lasith Malinga took hat-trick wickets for the fifth time. He has already done this thrice in One-Day International matches. On the other hand, he did this second time in T-20 International matches.
Sri Lanka Captain Malinga made this record in the third over of the last T-20 match of the series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka. He took Kiwi opener Colin Munro’s wicket on the third ball of the third over, Hamish Rutherford’s wicket on the fourth ball, Colin de Grandhomme’s wicket on the fifth ball and Ross Taylor’s on the last ball of the over.
Lasith Malinga is one and only bowler who has taken 4 wickets on 4 consecutive deliveries twice.
