Irfan Pathan will always be counted among the finest all-rounders. He made many cricket records because of his batting and bowling skills. Irfan recently said goodbye to cricket but he has made a tremendous suggestion. He suggested farewell match for retired Indian players. So that they can get final farewell in a good way. If Pathan’s suggestion accepted, then we will see Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid etc. playing in the same match.
Irfan’s retirement
Irfan pathan announced his retirement from international cricket in January this year. However he suggested the names of retired players who played matches for Team India for years and deserved a good farewell. So Irfan wants to play this playing XI as a charity match with the current Indian team.
Irfan’s suggestion
Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have been included as openers in the team. Rahul Dravid will be at number three. Stylish batsman VVS Laxman at number four, Yuvraj Singh at number five, Suresh Raina at sixth position, MS Dhoni as wicketkeeper, Ajit Agarkar at number eight, then Zaheer Khan and Pragyan as the only spinners in the team. Now it has to be seen whether the current BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly is able to organize such a match for his former teammates. Irfan Pathan suggested following names in same order :
- Gautam Gambhir
- Virendra Sehwag
- Rahul Dravid
- VVS Laxman
- Yuvraj Singh
- Suresh Raina
- MS Dhoni
- Irfan Pathan
- Ajit Agarkar
- Zaheer Khan
- Pragyan Ojha.
Irfan said, “Many people are talking about a farewell game for retired players who didn’t get a proper send-off from the game. How about a charity cum farewell game from a team consisting of retired players vs the current Indian team?”
