Team India defeated West Indies by 8 wickets in the first one-day match against West Indies. Rohit Sharma (152 *) and skipper Virat Kohli (140) were the heroes of this match. They made 246 runs partnership for the second wicket. Virat Kohli was adjudged Man of the Match. Team India made 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

West Indies batted first and scored 322 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs. Shimron Hetmayer scored a brilliant century for West Indies. In reply, Team India achieved the target by losing two wickets with 47 balls remaining. Ambati Rayudu remained unbeaten on 22 with Rohit Sharma. Team India scored 326 runs in 42.1 overs, losing two wickets.

Team India has made a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The second ODI will be played in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.
