Shikhar Dhawan returns to India to attain to ailing mother

Dhawan returns to India

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has returned to India after his good performance in Test series and then in the 4 matches of ODI series against Sri Lanka. Dhawan will not be available for the 5th ODI match on Sunday and the only T-20 match on Wednesday against Sri Lanka. This information is given by the BCCI.

According to the BCCI, Dhawan’s mother’s health is not well and he has returned to India for his mother. BCCI Secretary Amitav Chaudhary says that his mother’s condition is stable and she is recovering right now. The selectors have not decided to send any other player to Sri Lanka in his place as India now have to play two matches against Sri Lanka. Two opener batsmen Lokesh Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane are already there to replace Dhawan in the team.

Shikhar Dhawan is in great form from the Champions Trophy. He scored highest runs for India in the Test series against Sri Lanka and he played a great knock of 132 runs in the first ODI. Now after his return, it is difficult to say, who will open the innings for India with Rohit Sharma in the 5th ODI and in the only T-20 ?.
